When the opportunity to work with StuG came about — legendary guitarist, writer, producer, and founding member of UK band Delirious — JHS couldn't pass it up. Stu G wanted a dirt box that could cover any ground needed for studio work and extensive touring gigs. From that request the Kilt was born, and for the V2 it has been refined into a compact and versatile tone machine.

The Kilt V2 features a heavily tweaked Expandora style dirt box with more tonal options than you may ever use. A specifically chosen op-amplifier offers super low noise, improved slew rate for a smoother structure, and a character that just feels better than the original Expandora. Three toggles enhance the tweakability even further: the cut/flat toggle lets you cut low-end frequencies to better sit in the mix, while the G1 and G2 toggles let you select various forms of distortion via select resistance values that switch in and out of the clipping section — very different from normal diode clipping selectors.

• Both toggles down: lightest gain setting — amp-like chimey breakup
• G1 up: a touch more drive for riffy grit
• G2 up: near distortion territory with more saturation and sustain for lead tones
• Both up: almost uncontrollable gated fuzz/distortion that cuts through anything

For the V2, the G2 toggle can be switched with a Red Remote footswitch, making the V2 just as versatile as the V1 but more compact.
