A compressor may not be the most obvious effect in the world, but the difference it can make to your tone when used correctly will surprise you. It is the silent wonder of the guitar world, which is why Tone City designed their own stompbox: the Comp Engine.

Squeeze your tone: There are two common ways to use a compressor. One method turns the threshold (Comp control) up high for a very squashed sound that brings out the attack in your notes and smooths the level out, perfect for blues, jazz and funk where consistency is vital. The other runs it into a slightly distorted rig: with a small amount of compression and plenty of volume, this provides incredible sustain, the trick behind those notes that ring out forever at the end of a solo.

With its three essential controls, the Comp Engine lets you dial compression exactly the way you want.
