From Keeley:
For 25 years, Keeley Electronics has built pedals for players who care deeply about sound. It all began in 2001 with Robert Keeley, a workbench, and a humble compressor pedal. That first compressor helped define the company and became one of the most important designs in Keeley history.
Over the years, the Keeley Compressor continued to evolve. The original design grew into the four-knob Compressor, followed by the Compressor Plus. Each version gave players more control while preserving the musical feel that made the original so popular.
Now, Keeley returns to where it all started.
The Compressor Plus Germanium celebrates 25 years of Keeley Electronics while moving the Keeley Compressor forward for a new generation.
Germanium at the Heart of the Circuit
At the center of the Compressor Plus Germanium is a Japanese-style germanium transistor. Keeley uses germanium in both the audio output section and the compressor’s side-chain feedback circuit.
As a result, the Compressor Plus Germanium brings a new character to a familiar design. The circuit retains the control and versatility players expect from a Keeley compressor while adding the unique response of germanium.
This is not simply an anniversary finish or a cosmetic update. Keeley has changed the circuit itself to create a new version of one of its most enduring pedals.
Familiar Compressor Plus Controls
The Compressor Plus Germanium keeps the straightforward control layout that made the Compressor Plus easy to use.
Level controls the overall output volume.
Compression sets the amount of compression and sustain.
Tone allows you to shape the top end of the compressed signal.
Blend mixes your dry signal with the compressed signal.
The Blend control remains one of the most useful parts of the Compressor Plus design. It allows players to add sustain and control without losing the natural attack of the instrument. Therefore, you can dial in everything from subtle compression to a much more pronounced compressed sound.
Flexible Bypass Switching
The Compressor Plus Germanium also offers true bypass and buffered bypass switching. Players can switch between the two modes on the fly, making the pedal easy to integrate into a wide range of pedalboards.
Whether you prefer the simplicity of true bypass or the signal-strength benefits of a quality buffer, the Compressor Plus Germanium gives you both options in one pedal.
Built for Modern Pedalboards
The Compressor Plus Germanium operates from 9V to 18V DC and draws only 25mA. It uses a standard center-negative power connection, so it works with most common pedalboard power supplies.
Most importantly, the Compressor Plus Germanium connects Keeley’s past with its future. What began with Robert Keeley and a compressor pedal in 2001 has grown into 25 years of pedal design and manufacturing in Oklahoma.
The Keeley Compressor Plus Germanium honors that beginning while carrying the Keeley Compressor forward for the players who come next.
