The Volume acts as a standard volume control to be able to set at unison or boost the signal. The Mids and Sweep controls work very closely together so you can find the perfect frequencies to boost or scoop mid frequencies. When the Mids knob is at 12 o'clock, no frequencies are boosted or scooped. Turning the Mids knob to the left of 12 o'clock will begin to scoop out midrange frequencies, while turning the Mids knob to the right of 12 o'clock will begin to boost midrange frequencies. The Sweep knob controls the what frequencies will be affected. Sweep knob to the left will cause low-mids to be affected, while Sweep knob to the right will cause hi-mids to be affected. Orange was a company that built an iconic sound and following starting in the late 60's with endorsers like Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac, and even Led Zeppelin. By the mid to later 70's Orange had exported around the world, and guitar players everywhere were captured by this raw sound that was so different from Marshall or Hiwatt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBjorn is very familiar with this sound having played the amps in the late 70's and then going on to repairing them as well. He has captured this so-called crude distortion in the Fluorescent Orange Amp In A Box (FOAIAB) drive pedal. With 56dB of gain and a noise level about -80dB, the FOAIAB is ideal for classic and hard rock — even early metal — all the distortion, none of the noise. The FOAIAB works best with humbucking pickups as do most distortion pedals, but there is more than enough thick distortion to satisfy the single coil and P-90 users as well.
